

Downloaded maps can also be deleted from Google Maps following the same steps, but instead of tapping the Download button, tap the Delete button to remove a map. To update a map, go to Offline maps as explained above, select the map to be updated, and tap the Update button. The Google Maps app will show the date an offline map will expire. If a map has expired, users will need to download it again. For example, only driving directions are available in offline mode, so users won't get transit, cycling, and walking directions. There is also no traffic info and alternate routes as these features require the internet. Downloaded maps can expire and have to be updated before they do. Not all features are available with offline maps. Select Offline maps in the menu and choose a downloaded map to use.

To access downloaded maps, open the Maps app and tap the profile icon at the top right corner of the screen. Users can download multiple offline maps for different areas. After choosing the area to be downloaded, tap the Download button at the bottom of the screen. Its especially helpful when navigating tricky indoor areas, like airports, malls and train stations. Live View helps you find your way when walking around, using AR to display helpful arrows and directions right on top of your world. The larger the area of the map to be downloaded, the more space it will require on the device. The magic of Live View now in your favorite apps.
